Peter Coleman is the Head of Land Use and Bioenergy science in the climate science team within the Science and Innovation for Climate and Energy Directorate within BEIS.
He is responsible for quantifying the effects of land use on UK greenhouse gas emissions and removals, improving BEIS’s understanding of the mitigation potential of land and providing scientific support to the BEIS International Climate Fund teams on forests and land use. He also provides support to policy teams on bioenergy and on the effects of the energy system on air quality. The BEIS climate science team is supporting the BEIS GGR team who are the policy customer for this Strategic Priorities Fund programme and so he was involved as an observer in the evaluation process.
