The NetZeroPlus team have been engaging with a variety of stakeholders this month.

Programme Manager Kate Gannon, CoI Danny Williamson and PI Ian Bateman presented an overview of the NZ+ programme to the SPF GGR-D Steering Committee on 6th March 2023. This was very warmly welcomed, a response which was reported back to the NetZeroPlus: Management Board Meeting on 7th March.

Ian Bateman met with senior Cabinet members of the Scottish Government (including First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon; Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport, Michael Matheson; Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and Islands, Mairi Gougeon; Minister for Environment, Biodiversity and Land Reform, Mairi McAllan; Minister for Green Skills, Circular Economy and Biodiversity, Lorna Slater and senior civil servants) at the First Minister’s Environment Council (FMEC) 13th – 14th March 2023 at St Andrew’s House, Edinburgh. The meeting discussed agricultural, environmental and food security issues.

Ian was part of the organising committee for the annual EnvEcon Conference at the Royal Society on 24th March, presented a workshop as part of the International Student Conference on Conservation Science, University of Cambridge, 28th -30th March, and led a new paper on valuing water quality improvements which was accepted for publication in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
